Music is inseparable from what it is to be human. Underlying all good music is a profound connection with each other.

No matter what style of music I am involved in - and there have been many - I am always looking for that connection, that spark that takes us away from the everyday and reminds us of it.

I believe that everyone has the right to share in that.

B i o g r a p h y

Andy's work has  included film and media music, electronic music production, conducting, music for theatre, sound design, and education and community work.

 

Andy began his career as a keyboard player touring with Jackdaw With Crowbar and Bhangra singer Johnny Zee.
He worked at Island Records  with reggae producer Paul 'Groucho' Smykle before co-founding Banco de Gaia with Toby Marks with and producing the Mercury-nominated album Maya and Last Train to Lhasa. As a dance music producer he worked with Medicine Drum, Prana, Eat Static and others as well as releasing solo work under the monikers 100th Monkey and Funkopath. Writing in the Virgin Encyclopedia of Dance Music, Colin Larkin describes his work as:

 

"characterised by varied textures and grooves,

and the most detailed, original production."


Andy worked as Musical Director for Heartbreak Productions Theatre company for 12 years and In 2009 Andy composed and produced an orchestral score for the feature film The 13th Day. He was awarded a New York Film & Television Award for his work on the sound design of the film. He composes for TV ads, community films and corporate media projects.

 

He is a Director and national choirleader of  The Workplace Choir Company Ltd.

In 2011 he gained a distinction in an MA in composition at Coventry University, and has had conductor training with Sing for Pleasure.

He also lectures in Composition, and Music Technology at Coventry University.

He has two daughters, works from his studio in Coventry and performs in the UK and internationally.
